Influence of spin on the persistent current of strongly interacting electrons

چکیده

The lowest eigenenergies of few, strongly interacting electrons in a one–dimensional ring are studied in presence of an impurity barrier. The persistent current I , periodic in an Aharonov–Bohm flux penetrating the ring, is strongly influenced by the electron spin. The impurity does not remove discontinuities in I at zero temperature. The total electron spin of the ground state oscillates with the flux. Strong electron–electron interaction enhances I , albeit not up to the value of the clean ring which itself is smaller than I for free electrons. I disappears on a temperature scale that depends exponentially on the electron density. In the limit of very strong interaction the response to small fluxes is diamagnetic. 05.30.Fk Fermion Systems 71.27.+a Strongly Correlated Electron Systems 73.20.Dx Electron States in Low–dimensional Systems 75.30.Et Exchange and Superexchange Interactions

Electronic Properties of a Concentric Triple Quantum Nanoring

In this paper, we study the electronic properties of a concentric triple quantum ring using exact diagonalization technique. The energy spectra and magnetization for a single electron and two electrons, in the presence of an applied magnetic field, are calculated and discussed. It is shown that, for two-interacting electrons, the period of Aharonov-Bohm oscillations decreases to the half of tha...

Calculation of Quasi-one-dimensional Interacting Electron Gas Using the Hartree-Fock Method

In this paper, the Hartree-Fock method has been formulated to investigate some of the ground state properties of quasi-one-dimensional interacting electron gas in the presence of the magnetic field. The bare coulomb interaction between electrons has been assumed. For this system, we have also computed some of its thermodynamic and magnetic properties such as the energy, pressure, incompressibil...

Persistent Currents in 1 D Disordered Rings of Interacting Electrons

(Received) We calculate the persistent current of 1D rings of spinless fermions with short-range interactions on a lattice with up to 20 sites, and in the presence of disorder, for various band fillings. We find that both disorder and interactions always decrease the persistent current by localizing the electrons. Away from half-filling, the interaction has a much stronger influence in the pres...

Comment on "Mesoscopic Kondo effect in an Aharonov-Bohm ring".

An interacting quantum dot inserted in a mesoscopic ring is investigated. A variational ansatz is employed to describe the ground state of the system in the presence of the Aharonov-Bohm flux. It is shown that, for an even number of electrons with the energy level spacing smaller than the Kondo temperature, the persistent current has a value similar to that of a perfect ring with the same radiu...

Circulating and persistent currents induced by a current magnification and Aharonov-Casher phase

We considered the circulating current induced by the current magnification and the persistent current induced by Aharonov-Casher flux. The persistent currents have directional dependence on the direct current flow, but the circulating currents have no directional dependence. Hence in the equilibrium, only the persistent current can survives on the ring. For the charge current, the persistent ch...
